Yes it’s a Monday, however this Monday I was really excited to get back in the office. I’m generally happy to come to work on Mondays – today I was pumped.
Due to the massive underground fires the previous weekend that caused power outages in downtown Calgary, we had spent the last week working at remote locations. We were running back and forth to Staples printing centers, each other’s houses, and at one point a group of eight of us were crammed around a boardroom table at Lane Quinn’s office (thank you, thank you, Lane Quinn for taking us in.) We affectionately dubbed the boardroom office ‘Camp Britt Land’ aka, ‘the Bunker’.
The reason I was so excited to get back into the office today was not due to the fact that we have everything we need here to run efficiently (although that’s a major bonus,) it’s because I was looking forward to seeing and connecting with our team: To have the opportunity to thank them for all of their effort and work over this last week. To be able to look into their eyes and let them know how appreciative and proud I am that we have such a connected, driven and dedicated team willing to do what it takes to make it happen for our clients and to support each other along the way.
It’s times like this when I feel deep in my soul that the hard work, stress and challenges are all worth it. When I know that I’m not doing it on my own. Instead, I have a team of people around me who care just as much and take some of the weight off my shoulders and put it on their own.
